Hey folks,I'm jointly developing an SQL database with a co-worker and we are remotely located (he is CA and I'm in AL). We are using SQL 2005 Standard Edition and are both new to SQL. Each of us are defining and populating independent tables within a database. We need to 'sync up' periodically. Is there a simple mechanism available to export and import tables?

The world ends with you patch itau. Everything I've read thus far seems to involve in-depth knowledge of SQL and a great deal of effort (e.g. BCP and DTS??). I can't believe there isn't some sort of built-in mechanism within SQL server to export a table out to a file and import from that file back into the database.I've tried the Import/Export Wizard but that doesn't seem to give me the ability to export a table out to a file. Am I missing something?

Unfortunately, SQL 2005 is missing the nativie capability to transfer database objects, including tables. As you noticed, the Import/Export Wizard only transfers data. Using SSIS (the replacement for DTS) is the 'best' choice. However, you 'might' be well served to look at some of the third party products that will do comparision and script creation for table schema changes as well as data differences. For a 'needed' tool, the cost is relatively minor. (I'm partial to ApexSQL's SQL Diff tool.)Comparison ToolsObject Comparison:Data ComparisonDTS ComparisonServer ComparisonFree Tools.
