You should not use usb pass through if you use vmotion since you could easily migrate the vm away from the host were the usb dongle is installed. Where the solution like usb-anywhere give you an external device that is network connected.

I'm not saying that usb pass through is a bad choice just be aware of the limitations. You will also find that some servers only have 2 usb ports in the back and 2 in the front, if you have several applications that use usb keys you may not have enough ports for the pass through. I've used a small usb hub in this situation to overcome this restriction too.
