Descent Journey In The Dark Second Edition Rules Of Tennis
I recently just gbought the second edition and I am in love with it. However, I noticed that there are many characters that are present in the first edition that are not present in the second edition. I would very much like to have these characters available for play in my second edition game. I have found some sellers on ebay for the figures of the first edition heros. To get the correct character sheets for the heros i would need to buy the conversion pack. Is there a better way to get the figures and hero cards from the heros in the first edition than buying the figures from someone and buying the conversion pack for the hero cards?
As I understand it, the conversion pack is intended for people who own all the 1st edition content, not people who retroactively want to add the 1st edition heroes and monsters to their 2nd edition games. Now, hopefully they will be adding some kind of hero/monster pack that includes all those 1st edition minis, but I wouldn't hold my breath. It might be a cool idea for a mini expansion to give all those old monsters and hero miniatures a facelift and package them all together in one box, but again, there are no indications they are ever going to do this, and that it's nothing more than a daydream for those of us who got into Descent in 2nd. Just buy it.Srsly dude, best 20 bucks i ever spent.Although it is somehow frustrating to use proxys, tokens or other figures ingame, the conversion kit adds so much more viability to the game.not only for heroes but for the OL too. There are a lot of strong(er) heroes in the conversion kit + u can create heroteams which focus on special roles.
Like a movement orientated team, with charakters that can move each other around.I played a melee runemaster with a chainmail (jaes the exile btw.) who dished out 11 damage flat 3 times a turn.the ol gets so much more monsters, enabling him to react much better on player teams. Also u can so use monsters, that fit perfectly in the quest setup.all i can do is repeat myself: get the conversion kit, use proxys. U ll love it!
It cost me $300 to get all the miniatures from the first editions to add to my 2nd addition game. That is considered CHEAP.Ouch. Please tell me you at least got some 1E cardboard to go along with those figs. That's not really surprising though, I suppose that sort of thing has been going on for a long time now.I already own everything 1E since I've been following the game since it originally came out, but if I were just getting into it now and only wanted the extra figs to expand 2E, I'd just pay the $20 for the CK and find proxies among the thousands of plastic figs I have from various other gaming products accumulated over the years. The easy way to get the 4 Dungeon Quest miniatures is to buy Dungeon Quest (it is still in print).
The game is pretty light weight, but actually a lot of fun, especally if you are playing with someone elase who doesn't like complex rules or if you feel like a lighter weight game some night or other.That is how we ened up with DQ, we ordered it with a plan of playing it once 'just in case' and expectign it to be something we threw out (excpet for the 4 'decent minatures'). It ended up being something we play more then once a month. It would be really nice if FFG released them in one way or another. I'm sure they'd make some good money off it from people who are completionists and must have all heroes/monsters (like me).I was lucky enough to get Tomb of Ice (which has my favorite heroes and monsters) before it shot up in price.
And occasionally, there are good deals for monster miniatures on eBay (I got a set of Bane Spiders for 4 dollars free shipping). The hunt is fun for a while, but I hope one day FFG does release them all via the site. I guess I got lucky getting all the minis (except for LTs) before everything went out of print, and at a good price too (I got a bundle at the time, the game plus all 4 bundles that had minis in them) I suppose I could likely make a good profit were I to decide to sell them. That ain't gonna happen, though. I think the only minis that can be used with 2E and the conversion kit I'm missing out on are Tobin Farslayer and the DQ characters. The 1E LTs I'm not going to worry about. If I can get them at a not too exorbitant a price, I'll get them, but it's not a big deal if I can't.
